About

Why We Exist

Engineering wants to build. Finance wants to buy. Operations is stuck in the middle, watching a decision stall while everyone argues from a different set of perspectives and incentives. That tension plays out in meeting after meeting, company after company, and it usually gets resolved by whoever has the most political capital in the room — not by what actually solves the problem.

We built CustomSoftware.ai to give that conversation a neutral referee. Before you commit budget to a build, a purchase, or a company-wide rollout, we help you get clarity on what you actually need, independent of which department’s preferred outcome wins.

What We Do

CustomSoftware.ai is a vendor-neutral software strategy advisor. Describe what you’re trying to accomplish, and our AI-driven discovery process asks the kind of questions an experienced strategist would ask about your business, your current systems, and your constraints before recommending a path forward.

We weigh every situation against five possible paths, roughly in this order of preference:

  1. Configure something you already own: the fastest, lowest-cost answer when it applies.
  2. Buy an existing product that already covers the need.
  3. Connect the systems you already have, instead of replacing them.
  4. Automate the repetitive part with AI.
  5. Build something custom — only when nothing else reasonably fits.

Most situations get resolved by the first four paths. Custom software is the answer we reach for last, not first.

For teams further along — already comparing named vendors as a formal buying committee — our Evaluate tool gives you a structured way to score candidates and weigh each stakeholder’s vote, so the decision is documented and defensible, without an algorithm or a salesperson picking a winner for you.

What We Believe

  • Advice before sales: we’re not trying to sell you a build. We’re trying to help you avoid one you don’t need.
  • Vendor neutrality: we don’t get paid more for recommending “build.” Every path stays on the table until the evidence rules it out.
  • Clarity for executives: you shouldn’t need a technical background to get a straight answer about your options.
  • Recommendations you can act on, not a vague report that sits in a drawer.
  • Human follow-up when it helps: if your situation calls for it, a real person, not just the AI, follows up with next steps.

Who It’s For
